That?s how many cars and trucks traveled Interstate 295 while construction crews worked at making this highway stronger, smoother, better, safer. 18 million drive bys, sometimes just inches away from where crews repaired 29 bridges and overpasses, installed 14 miles of new guardrail, cleaned 286 catch basins, and laid down 1200 feet of drainage culvert and more than 40 miles and 36 on and off ramps worth of fresh pavement ? including all eight lanes of Tukeys Bridge?an incredible effort and a $22 million investment for Maine ? and Maine Dept. of Transportation would like to thank everyone who helped?the construction companies, the work crews?who worked mostly at night, the municipalities, local residents and businesses, and especially the drivers for their patience and safe driving. MaineDOT is happy to announce that the I-295 project is officially over for this year. And it is a better road. Enjoy the drive.
